Whoo...what a busy day we had today. This morning our morning meeting was in english. We helped write our morning message and participated in our daily math routines. We started a new math routine on Monday. We are workin on creating math mountains with the total being 100. We get to pick one partner (which has to be a multiple of ten) and then we have to dtermine the other partner. We then write the number sentences that correcpind with the math mountain and make the partners using dimes.
After morning meeting, we had reading workshop. The red rhinos had two minilessons today. The first minilesson was on a new choice for the daily five. The students now have the choice of writing in their writing about reading notebooks. They are able to respond to the stories that they are reading indpendently by determining a word to describe the character and using text based details to support their thinking. Or they may choose to step into the story and record what it is the character may say. Our second minilesson was on noticing and remembering words within the books that we read. The green gators read the story Fluffy and Barron and worked on stepping into the story. We ended our morning with continuing to write our Flat Stanley letters.
In the afternoon we read some of the story Flat Stanley in Space. Then, the red rhinos worked on represnting numbers using quick ones, tens, and hundreds. The green gators worked on solving story problems that invloved money.
We ended our afternoon with a trip to england. We learned a lot about how Christmas is celebrated in England.Ask your child to share with you what they learned about Chrsitmas in England.
