Today was another busy day! In the morning, our question of the day was: What color is your hair? We learned that more of our friends have brown hair than have blonde or black hair. We showed this using a number sentence, and compared the numbers writing which number was "more than" or "less than" another number.
We are continuing our math routines in the morning, adding a different number to our total. Our number today was 188, and we showed this on our 240 chart by writing the equation 188 = 180 + 8.
During Reading workshop, some of our friends read the book Julius, El Rey de La Casa, and we talked about what the character was like at the beginning of the story, and what happened to cause the character to change at the end. The Red Rhinos learned about the Literacy Cafe menu, and how we can use this to help us when we read to ourselves, by choosing a strategy to help us when we read.
We read more from our book Flat Stanley, and are continuing to enjoy the adventures that Flat Stanley has.
During math, the Green Gators took a quick quiz on addition facts, and practiced using the strategies of counting on, drawing dots, and counting from the higher number. We are continuing to practice our addition facts through ten and higher, to help us with solving word problems. The Red Rhinos practiced making quick drawings using tens, hundreds, and ones.
