What a great learning day we had today. We started our morning with our morning meeting in Spanish. We helped write morning message, talked about the calender, and did our math routines. Our question of the day was how many letters do you have in your name. We leanred that a greater number of friends have seven letters in their name. After our morning meeting we shared our making words notebooks. Today we made smaller words from the words DREAMS and COCINAS. Ask your child to share with you what words they were able to make from these letters. After we shared our making words, we had our reading workshop mini lesson. Our mini lesson was on how effective readers think whlie they read. We shared our thinking for the story The Art Lesson.
After some outdoor recess, we completed our number of the day books. Today the Red Rhinos worked on making the number 28 and the green gators worked on making the number 13. We ended our day with math. In math, the red rhinos reviewed what an equation is and used this knowledge to help us determine if some math statements were equations. We also learned the math symbols for equal, not equal, greater than, and less than. We learned to use these signs to write mathematical statements. The green gators figured out number sentences for for parteners of 6, 7, and 8.
