Today was another fun filled day. In no more letter of the week today, our expert Anabel shared all about the letter J. Our new letter of the day is W and Justis will be our expert. Our first graders were given the opportunity to read the book "Who,Who, Who" and the word that they looked for was the word who.

In writing workshop, the kindergarteners were given another chance to work on reading their story out loud while pointing on the page before they write their story. We learned from Brynn's story that she went pumpkin picking and from Dominic's story that he played baseball with his friend.

In reading workshop, we work more on reading a book the proper way all to yourself. The students bumped up their independent reading time to five whole minutes today!

During personal readers, the kindergarteners worked on re-reading our story as well as finding words that we can recognize. We also looked for sounds in our story that we recognized from our letter wall.

In word study, the kindergarteners worked on putting their pictures in the right letter groups as well as drawing and labeling them. The first graders practiced our activity of sorting our words and then re-writing them.

After lunch, we all got together and read more from our Spain book and learned a lot of fun new things. We learned that students in Spain go to school for the same time of the year as us, but not the same hours of the day. Children in Spain go to school in from 9:00 to 12:30 and then they take a break till 3:00. They return to school at 3:00, and continue instruction until 5:00 p.m.

¡Hoy tuvimos un día lleno con cosas divertidas! Durante no más letras de la semana, nuestro experto Anabel compartió todo sobre la letra J. La letra del día nuevo estuvo W, y Justus estará el experto de la letra. Los niños de primer grado tuvieron la oportunidad a leer su libro, “Quien, Quien, Quien”, y la palabra que buscaron estuvo la palabra quien.

Durante el taller de escritura, los niños del jardín tuvieron la oportunidad a trabajar en sus cuentos en voz alta, mientras están tocando las páginas antes que escribieron sus cuentas. Aprendimos de la cuenta de Brynn que ella eligió su calabaza, y aprendimos que Dominic juego béisbol con su amigo.

Durante el taller de lectura, trabajamos mas sobre leer en silencio, y en las tres maneras que estábamos practicando. Los estudiantes añadieron dos minutos más a su tiempo de leer independiente, y ahora el tiempo es cinco minutos.

Durante la lección de libros personales, los niños del jardín aprendieron de volver a leer su cuenta, y también, buscaran para palabras que ya conocieron. También, buscaron a los sonidos que oyeron en nuestro cuenta en la pared de letras.

Durante el estudio de palabras, los niños del jardín practicaron a poner sus palabras en los grupos de letras, y también dibujaron estas palabras y etiquetároslas.

Después de al almuerzo, trabajamos juntos a leer nuestro libro de España, y aprendimos muchas cosas nuevas e interesantes. Aprendimos que los estudiantes que viven en España asisten la escuela en los mismos tiempos del año, pero las horas que estaban en la escuela son bastante diferentes. Los niños en España llegaran a la escuela a las 9 por la mañana hasta 12:30, y entonces tuvieran una siesta hasta a las 3 por la tarde. Entonces, regresen a la escuela a las 3, y continuaran instrucción hasta a las cinco por la noche.
