Thursday, October 2nd

Another busy day in C-7 and C-8! For morning work we created cards for Mrs. Zodarecky on her birthday. Many of us tried to write "Happy Birthday" in Spanish. This morning the green gators learned a new letter. Letter A! Sarah Vaisey was chosen to be the letter A expert. We look forward to hearing Sarah read the letter A book and can't wait to see what interesting objects she is able to find at home that start with the letter A. The red rhinos read our story Humpty Dumpty, and practiced reading the word "his". This morning we also learned that writers often go back to work on writing pieces that they have worked on in the past and add to those pieces. The red rhinos also learned who their writing partners were, and practiced sharing our stories with a partner. We learned that one of our friend's dad makes the best clams at carnivals and that another friend's mom had a baby recently named Gina. These stories are so exciting to read! Both the kindergarteners and the first graders worked on their handwriting today. We learned all about the word horizontal and vertical lines as well as what a big line is and a little line is.

During personal readers we worked on reading our stories in our funniest voices. They first read the story in their best Mickey Mouse voices, then their deepest voice and finally they read it in their quietest voice. They all sounded great! We are also practicing our song "De Colores" and went down to the multi-purpose room to practice. We are very excited for our performance on Tuesday. Please remember to send in your child's English Village t-shirt in a plastic bag, which we will wear for our performance.

Today I was at the Walmart plaza on W Ridge Rd. There is a discount bookstore in there. Cant miss it. I found leveled readers written in both eng and spanish. here are the titles. green light readers(coleccion luz verde)
